Harefield pics - taken by Peter Patient 1956 - 1961

Dye.bmp - on the road side of the car park there was a small brick building where the NDT (non-destructive test) people did dye penetrant crack detection. This pic shows the interior of this building.

Harold Bunce.bmp - Harold was a technical assistant in the radiography department. He left Harefield to do a similar job at Heathrow.

Hemsworth 2.bmp - "Daddy" Hemsworth taught the HND class at Southall Tech Strength of Materials. The only (?) student from Harefield in the autumn 1958 entry to this course was the one behind the camera. This social event was class a Christmas lunch in Windsor in '58, '59 or '60.

Hemsworth.bmp - Event as at previous description. "Daddy" displaying that he did have a human side after all. Other staff are Freddy Lister (IC Engines and Applied Thermodynamics) and, far left, a lecturer whose name escapes me but he taught Theory of Machines.

NDT.bmp - not the most exciting pic - ultrasonic test gear in the NDT lab. In the same lab they had magnetic crack detection kit - iron filings in paraffin - I think it was Mike Espezel who had a crankshaft reground and, when he tested it with this slop, he found the ground surfaces covered in fine cracks.

Peter Rolls.bmp - Peter was head of photographic section - I don't know how he put up with so many people using his darkroom to do their holiday pics - he had two assistants whose names escape me but many lusted after the female one, particularly Ron Shimell who prepared samples for the metallurgy department.

Test House Grounds.bmp - a pic I took from the roof of the building one summer day.

Theory of Machines 2.bmp - same Christmas lunch as mentioned above - second face from the left is the Theory of Machines lecturer.

Theory of machines.bmp - ditto the last comment - whats his name?

Who front right.bmp - who is the Southall lecturer front right? Hemsworth is back left.

Wilby Lister and who .bmp - on the right - at the back, Wilby (was that his name?) taught Workshop Theory and Practice (I think), next is Freddy Lister (IC Engines and Applied Thermodynamics) and, front right, the mystery Theory of Machines man again.
